Cheers Guys, we set off at 8 this morning and got there at a rather slow pace at 9.45, Matt drove and he wasn't in any hurry, we had a feeling that it was going to be busy there but was pleasantly surprised as there wasn't many anglers about so we didn't have to walk very far to get a spot.
Walking over those pebbles is always a pain so it was great to get to the top and find a spot staight out in front, as we got to the top and looked down at the water we were amazed to see massive shoals of white bait being pursued by literally thousands upon thousands of mackeral just off the shoreline, no more than 15 feet out, and on two occasions the white bait were out on the pebbles along with hundreds of mackeral, which soon realised the predicament they'd landed themselves in and soon flipped back into the water.
Well, you can guess how easy it was to catch them, four feathers, four fish every chuck, what was the best thing about today, we could pick exactly the right size fish for the pike and return any that were too big, which were many, we totalled between 500 and 600 mackeral but returned all but 137, 20 large ones for the table and the rest for the winter piking.
When the tide came in the waves started to pick up and you could see a lot of good sized bass chasing, but the feathers didn't pick any out so that was a disappointment but you can't have everything your own way all the time.
The weather was fantastic, with a light inshore breeze and sunny, which tended to be a bit on the hot side at times, no rain though, totally amazed. Still a great day and now i've no worries about getting bait from the shops and paying through the nose for it.
