| 1) Always take the utmost care and consideration when fishing, whether it be towards your catch, the environment, or your fishing mate.
2) never leave your rods un-attended, even for a short while.
3) Always bring your catch to the bank with as little force as possible.
4) Make sure your un-hooking mat is used at all times, and wet it before you lay the fish on it. (if you can)
5) Make sure the fish isnt stressing out. ( colouration of pinking around the tail, and upper body/gil areas will happen if stress occurs)
6) Use some form of medication to cover the hook wound, and if the fish has any other sores on it treat them as well, then cover in a small amount of vaseline.
6) Most of all take pictures if needed as quickly as possible, as not to keep the fish out of water too long.
7) Last but not least, if the fish is deep and a large size, make sure you support it ( near the undercarriage, most fish fatalities are due to load bearing strees due to being held badly.
Listening to others advice, will keep a carp or any type of fish healthy and have a longer lifespan | |
